1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Ponton Cabriolet
This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Ponton Cabriolet is one of just 1,112 imported to the US when new. Originally black over red leather interior, the current owner commissioned a restoration in the late 80’s upon seeing Ralph Lauren’s 220SE. The car now sits finished in Cream over a brown leather interior.
Overall the car has gained a nice patina over years of use out in the Hamptons where it resides most of its current life. Beltline chrome trim does show signs of wear with occasional dings/dents, while the front and rear chrome bumpers are in good overall condition showing little to minimal wear. The interior shows swear on both the drivers’ and passengers’ seats, however there are no rips or tears in the leather.
The 2.2L inline-six is paired to a column shifted 4 speed manual transmission and has just over 105,500 miles on the odometer. Accompanying the car are around 15 years of documentation from the current seller’s period of ownership which dates to 1982. The car is in good mechanical running condition and drives as intended. Most recent maintenance included replacement of the convertible soft top.
