1962 Mercedes-Benz 220SEb Cabriolet
This 1962 Mercedes-BEnz 220SEb Cabriolet was built to European specifications and originally equipped with the desirable 4 speed manual transmission. Having covered 109,000 kilometers from new, this example features a White exterior (DB050) with a red and maroon interior and black convertible cloth roof.
Prior to the current owner, the car underwent extensive cosmetic restoration with no regard for cost. The original DB050 white was reapplied to the car only afer being stripped down to bare metal, with the interior being restored to factory new condition retaining it’s red/maroon colorway. All wood trim and brightwork has been refinished as well, to a very high standard. During this time, a new convertible top and headliner were fitted. The original Blaupunkt radio is still installed and functions as intended.
Mechanically, the car is seen to leak some oil while sitting. That said, during the restoration the fuel system and brakes were rebuilt, and the clutch replaced. Prior to the car’s delivery to the US, the original 220 motor was replaced with a more stout and powerful 250 SL engine.
The car comes complete with factory records, tools, and receipts as well as a book with photographs documenting the restoration.
